Why Good Being Exists:

A Manifesto of Hard-Earned Idealism:

In a world addicted to cynicism, distraction and half-measures, to be an idealist is often viewed as a weakness. A liability. A naivety.

But I do not subscribe to that narrative. I never have.

Because my idealism is not naive. It is not whimsical. It is not cosmetic.

It is earned.

It is forged from decades of my own exhaustive quest, vocational intimacy, contributing my personal version of  'good' via career coaching, redundancy counselling, labour market research and existential proximity to people navigating the deep questions of their lives.

My dead-reckoning also happens to be conducted on the pain of burning through 35 jobs in the first 32 years of my life. I know what it is to live in alignment with my values and principles, my curiosities and interests and those answers and results that form part of the great feedback loop on life. Plus, I have endured the visceral anguish and battled through the happiness hindering turbulence of living and working in misalignment too.

Equally importantly for the claims that I live and die by here in this blog - I know the hardship of the dead-end job and the life-sapping pain of feeling the misfit.

So, yes, my idealism is forged - not just from walking with those experiencing 'career pain' - it stems from having lived through that very same pain myself. It comes from sitting with those who have been flattened by the false promises of modern life: the careers that never delivered fulfilment, the salaries that never bought tranquility, the alleged successes that always seemed to feel hollow, the systems that asked for everything and fed so little back in return.

And so I stand now, unflinchingly, as the rank idealist, the purpose-driven agitator, doggedly determined maverick focussed on upsetting the status quo. Because I have seen what happens when we do not believe in anything higher. I have seen what happens when we lose sight of our 'Why'. When we sever our connection to contribution, coherence, vocation, goodness, the all-important sense of becoming and that sacred connection intended to drive us on.

Because without the flame of idealism:

There is no higher-calling.
There would be no Purpose Pyramid.
There is no odyssey of alignment.
There is no Map of Respect, no Meld, no Hearth, no Forge, no Henge.

All that remains is optimisation without meaning. Productivity without poetry. Process without intentionality. Progress without - and in spite of - real soul.

Good Being exists because I believe we are not meant to drift through life untethered. We are not designed to remain dormant and conceal our intrinsic good. We are not born to be commodified, categorised or spiritually sedated. A 'good', well-lived life is coherent, altruistic and egalitarian by Nature.

We are here to become.
We are here to contribute our own, unique interpretation of good.
We are here to align with our inner nature and outer necessity.

We are here to live in alignment.
We are here to remember who we are.

We exist to be good.

'This' is what it is to be...

... Human.

🌱 The Sacred Engine of Idealism:

The Good Being Movement is powered by a different engine. Not fear. Not hustle. Not external validation. But by idealism.

This idealism is not a luxury. It is a lifeline. It is the animating force that asks:

What would it mean to live in integrity with our gifts innate?
What would it mean to align our work with the ecosystem of life itself?
What would it mean to bring coherence to our increasingly fragmented society?

What would it mean to self-actualize?

What would it mean for ALL of us to know transcendence?

What exactly is the point in life if life is bereft of meaning?

After all, surely this is what we exist to take responsibility for, decipher, own and know?

Good Being does not sell quick fixes. It does not reduce the human condition to a productivity hack. It does not medicate the symptoms of modern malaise with false optimism and deep fakes.

It invites a true reckoning.
It initiates a remembering.
It offers a tangible structure.
It demands that we show up.

We do not become Good Beings by accident. We become Good Beings through conscious alignment. Through devoted craft. Through soulful courage. Through inner knowing.

🛠️ Functional Idealism: The Tools of Realignment:

This movement is not just an idea. It is an architecture. A living, breathing, thrumming canon. A system of interconnected tools, frameworks, experiences, invitations and invocations designed to bring people back to the centre of who they are, why they are here and what they are going to do with their lives.

The Good Being canon includes - but not limited to:

  • The Purpose Pyramid

  • The Talent Triangles

  • The Map of Respect

  • The Career Dovetail Formula – an Occupational DNA and work/ life planning System

  • The Good Being Dashboard

  • The Work Aesthetics Philosophy

  • The 7 Pillars of: The Hilt, The Forge, The Bridge, The Meld, The Henge, The Hearth and The Beacon.

  • And the gamified Meaning of Life Engine

These are not abstract philosophies. They are practical, pragmatic, applied structures. They are bridges from fragmentation to integration. They are scaffolding for self-actualisation. They are orientation tools for the soul. They are gateways to transcendence.

When a detractor says:

"Idealists dream."

My reply is an emphatic:

"Yes, idealists do dream. But what right does anyone have to tell another they cannot dream of a better, more fulfilling, more meaningful, happier, more abundant life? It is through such dreaming that my idealism built a system that helps people bring their dreams into reality. To actually live those dreams responsibly, vocationally, coherently and, in service to others, as steps towards their own becoming. Because, deep down in my soul, I always knew there had to be a better way. Forged in my deep psyche, delivered in the pre-dawn twilight, my dreams informed me there had to be a more rewarding, meaningful and dynamic access route to living on purpose and the measurable difference such alignment stands to make to a wholer society."

This is functional idealism. Idealism that gets its hands dirty. Idealism that translates into impact. Idealism that honours the complexity of being human while pointing toward the life-affirming clarity of becoming whole. Why should any of us be expected to strive for anything less than the 'Constitution of Ideal? Isn't such ceaseless aspiration the raw fuel that propels humanity's continuous ascent?

🤝 To the Disillusioned: This Is Not Another Pep Talk:

Let me speak directly to you - the person reading this who quietly hates their work.

The person who’s spent years climbing ladders - seemingly leaning against the wrong corporate wall - that led nowhere near where they hoped they might go. To those who have felt the soul-deep fatigue of living from one payslip to the next, wondering if you missed the turnoff to a better life.

Those of you who have watched others speak of purpose and passion as if it were easy, while your days have felt more like the constant grind of  survival, weighed down by the leaden-jacket of self-doubt and perpetual recrimination. Hating Mondays. Bashing alarm-clocks. Externalising the blame. Bowed in shame.

I built this - not just because of you - but for you.

Not to sell you a dream.
Not to fix you.

(that's not my job)
Not to sugar-coat reality.

But to empower you.

To 'uncover' the real you.

To offer you detection tools I wish someone had handed me when I had nothing left but grit, grief, gloom and that undying faint whisper of hoping for something more. Always believing that - even if for so much of the time I could not see it for myself - that light existed at the end of the tunnel. If only I could hold on long enough, I'd get 'there' someday.

The Purpose Pyramid is not a motivational concept.
It’s not one more condescending, corporate coaching gimmick in disguise.
It is a system designed to help people like you - those who’ve lost trust in the system, and maybe even in lost faith in themselves - to reclaim their dignity, their direction, and the right to want more without shame.

You don’t need blind faith to begin.
Just enough courage to take one honest step towards your becoming the true you.

But first you must learn 'your story'.

🧭 A North Star for the Now:

The cynics of this world do not need more haughty claims for them to build their scepticism on. The lost do not need more maps to nowhere. What we need are flame-keepers. Conviction-holders. People willing to hold the line on what matters most. Life's differentiators. People who dare to put their convictions where the faith directs them. Not a dogmatic, externalised, intrinsically judgemental ideology. But a faith in Self.

Let this be that line.
Let Good Being cultivate that Inner Light.
Let this page - let this whole blog of mine - be a statement of non-negotiables.

Let's all of us believe:

  • In the sanctity of inner potential.

  • That every single person I have ever met has 'that' locked inside.

  • In the absolute necessity of aligned contribution to a wholer world.

  • In the sacred obligation to leave the world better than we found it.

  • In humanity’s capacity to realign with Nature and within itself - as our duty

  • In living sustainably - as a moral and ethical imperative.

  • Above all, not squandering human potential, but cultivating it.

  • To human flourishing and environmental abundance.

  • To unlocking our capacity to love ourselves as proportionate to our receiving love.

🔥 The Invitation:

So no, I will not dilute my conviction. I will not pretend to be neutral or inert. I will not act as though the crisis of meaning is anything other than urgent. I will not apologise for caring passionately about the cultivating of humanity's fullest potential and my ultimate dream for Good Being becoming the mass self-actualization system it was designed to become.

Good Being exists because something essential has been forgotten.

And I/we are here to remember - our growing throng of like-minded connections that we exist to:

  • become strong not by hardening, but by aligning with each other.

  • become resilient not by armouring up, but by becoming who we are intended to be.

  • become contributors not through martyrdom, but through positive contribution.

  • build coherence through consensus-building, cooperation, compromise and convergence.

Welcome to the return.
Welcome to the remembering.
Welcome to the realignment.

Welcome to Good Being.

The Seven Glyphs of The Purpose Pyramid: The Pillars of Transcendence:

These are not metaphorical stages. They are psychic crucibles. The six pillars (and the final glyph of transcendence) form the living lattice of the Purpose Pyramid Matrix—an internal architecture designed to guide the individual through the arduous ascent from confusion to clarity, from drifting to destiny, from dislocation to Good Being.

Each stage aligns with a Talent Triangle. Each triangle invites deep reflection and realignment with a core truth. Each glyph is a foundation stone of the next dimension of becoming.

Together, they trace the soul’s ascent through vocation into contribution—and, ultimately, into repletion.

⚔️ The Hilt — The Pillar of Initiation

The Hilt is the ownership of responsibility and the honing of one's edge. It is the act of taking up the mantle. Here, the individual claims agency and awakens their initial directional force. The Hilt represents the moment of grasping the sword of your will—activating the fusion of what you can do and what you care about.

This is the beginning—but not the safe kind. This is not curiosity or mild interest. The Hilt is the moment you grasp the blade of your own destiny and agree to walk through fire.

Here you commit. Not to outcomes. But to the inner integrity of effort.

You say yes to the call—not because you’re ready, but because you’re no longer willing to pretend you’re asleep.

  • Inner mantra: "I will not drift."

  • Challenge: Overcome inertia and denial.

  • Reward: Initiation of agency. A sense of self-direction reawakens.

This is your point of entry. Your first act of commitment.

02

🔨 The Forge — The Pillar of Tempering

The Forge is the application of heat to comprehend one’s often well-hidden aptitudes. This is where strength meets pressure. It is not a comfortable place. It is the crucible in which your raw qualities are tested and transformed into behavioural excellence. You emerge with an understanding not only of what you are, but how you move through the world.

This is the soul under pressure by the toughest challenge known to humanity—introspection via self-inventory. The furnace of fire, functionality, form and flow are investigated. Your inherited identities, traumas, performances, and self-deceptions melt under the intensity of probing for your deepest inner truth.

Believe me, self-scrutiny really tests us. Such honest introspection burns. If it doesn't, you're not doing it right! Yet, you are reshaped under the intensity.

This kind of heat is sacred. This is where truth is no longer a concept, but a crucible.

  • Inner mantra: "Let what is false go. Embrace the true you! Celebrate your success."

  • Challenge: Confront the Shadow-Self.

  • Reward: Integrity of form. Clarity of pain's message. Authenticity!

This is the refinement of your strength into style.

🪨 The Henge — The Pillar of Revelation

The Henge is ultimately the most transformational and portentous of the seven. Here, we discover the workings of The Meaning of Life-Engine and bring them into a synchros orbit that catalyses love for self, love for work, and love for our contribution. It is the moment we name the vocation we were put here to do - and feel it resonate through every cell.

The Henge is the standing stone of your existence. The place where your purpose becomes non-negotiable.

You no longer ask, "What is my gift?" You become the gift. You no longer seek worthiness - you embody it.

Here, you see what you truly are. Not just a role or a function - but a principle made flesh.

  • Inner mantra: "Everyone's gotta serve somebody. It might as well be what I am good at!"

  • Challenge: Own your sacred pattern without apology.

  • Reward: Sovereignty. The principle of your being is clarified and named.

This is where your sacred function crystallises and you suddenly discover what your "What" is in life!

04

🌀 The Meld — The Pillar of Integration

The Meld is the key pillar because it connects our vocation with our principles in life. It helps us embrace the motivations that fuel our ascent toward transcendence. Without this ignition of purpose and principle, we remain stuck, becalmed, and motivationless. The Meld fuses your soul’s function with its moral anchor.

Now comes convergence. You begin to weave what had been compartmentalised: your passions, principles, pain, and power.

You realise your life is not a set of fragments to manage - but a singular force to express.

This is vocational coherence - working in full alignments with one's occupational attributes. The moment when your soul and your contribution begin to sing in the same key for the first time.

  • Inner mantra: "I am good enough. I can do this."

  • Challenge: Abandon false binaries and reconcile inner tension.

  • Reward: Integration. Alignment of identity and expression.

This is where your “Why” takes fire.

The Bridge Glyph - redesign.jpg

🌉 The Bridge — The Pillar of Transition

The Bridge is the rite of adult passage. It is not about what lies ahead, but about what must be left behind. By crossing this bridge, we relinquish those parts of our younger self that hindered our progress - reactivity, insecurity, performance-seeking. We awaken into unconditionality and mutuality as the only real way of loving authentically.

Here lies the most perilous threshold: the decision to step out of the old life without a guaranteed new one waiting.

This is exile. The territory between what was and what must become. The false comfort of survival is still within reach - but you walk past it.

You cross.

  • Inner mantra: "As much as I love myself and the person I always was, I will not go back. This is me now (and forevermore)."

  • Challenge: Withstand ambiguity and cultural dissonance.

  • Reward: Emerging authenticity. A self who cannot unknow what they now know.

As if our inner being flicked an invisible switch inside, this is the crossing from potential to activation. Look out!

06

🔥 The Hearth — The Pillar of Embodiment

By now, we have learned to revere our vocation as an integral element in our core identity. We recognise that a true vocation is a forever journey. There are ingredients within the reciprocity of our work and the contribution that we make to our community that model every ethos of what it is to live sustainably. The Hearth is where our coherence becomes contribution.

Now you radiate. Not in performance. Not in exhaustion. But in overflow.

You no longer chase purpose - it emanates from you.

You nourish others without depletion. You live in devotion to coherence. You serve, not as sacrifice, but as expression.

This is not the end. But it is the return.

  • Inner mantra: "I exist to contribute."

  • Challenge: Discern true service from egoic martyrdom.

  • Reward: Reverence. You become a generative force in the world.

This is your radiance. Quiet. Certain. Aligned. You emanate 'conviction of purpose'.

You are Good Being.

🌟 The Beacon — The Pillar of Transmission

The Beacon can only occur in the latter stages of life. It is founded on self-acceptance, forgiveness in all its forms, and reaching the state of repletion. This is the hypothetical checklist where we have put ticks alongside all of our definitions of success. It is not something you do. It is what you become.

The final glyph is not a pillar in the architectural sense. It is the crown, the emanation.

The Beacon is what becomes of a life lived in Good Being. Not a spotlight - but a signal. A life that emits truth without speaking it. A life that guides not by message, but by resonance.

You are no longer seeking. You are no longer proving. You are no longer performing.

You are transmitting.

  • Inner mantra: "My life is the message."

  • Challenge: Sustain embodiment without seeking recognition.

  • Reward: Transcendence. Repletion. Full self-actualisation through service.

This is the signal you emit - without having to speak. This is the You you were always meant to be!

Together, these Seven Glyphs form the galvanising truth involved in ascending of The Purpose Pyramid.

These thresholds are not linear. But they are sequential.

Each one asks you to delve more deeply.

Each one asks more of you.
Each one strips you cleaner.
Each one returns you truer.

Each one is the making of you.

They will not flatter you. But they will free you.

And if you dare to complete the climb, you will not only discover your purpose. You will become someone who cannot help but live it.

✨ The Win/Win of Purpose-driven Living:

Live on purpose, and our labour becomes legacy.
Contribution becomes flow.
And every one of us remembers what it feels like to do good—
and feel good—again, and again, and again.
